I own and manage Urban Living, a boutique Seattle and Bellevue real estate brokerage. I love lofts, floating homes, new construction, and mid-century moderns, but I will help you buy or sell just about anything!

I help about 40 clients annually, putting me in the top 75 agents in Seattle by sales volume.

Before becoming a real estate agent I sold a food-tech startup, ran marketing for Redfin, and worked as a program manager at Microsoft. I hold a Bachelor of Mathematics with a major in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, so I’m always happy to geek out on pricing spreadsheets.

I live in a floating home in Eastlake at Mallard Cove with my wife and two kids. Before that, I lived in the Central District for a year and on Capitol Hill for eight years at Trace Lofts and the Meritage.

When not helping people buy or sell, I manage my rental houses and when not doing that I enjoy skiing, boating, hockey, and whiskey cocktails.

I'm not sure I'd be in the house I'm in now -- or any house really -- if not for Matt's steady guidance and partnership throughout the home shopping, mortgage and signing processes. As a first-time homebuyer, I knew I wanted a lot of hand-holding and reassurance along the way, from the first step to the last. I had conversations with a couple of agents, but no one felt right. I just wasn't confident that I would get what I wanted and needed, and had to really consider what sort of compromises I would have to make regarding my list of agent requirements. Fortunately during my online searches I came across Matt's blog, dedicated to all things loft: urbnlvn.com. Immediately after signing up for the newsletter Matt reached out personally with a very welcoming note that gave me confidence right away that he was the agent for me. We exchanged a couple of detailed emails including a short list of properties I found interesting. From there, it was just a dream: Matt took the care to evaluate each of the properties and prepared a compilation of details for my review. He even plotted a course for us to meet and look at all the homes I selected. In short, he attended to all the details to ensure a flawless experience out of the gate. Not only did I not have to compromise on my ideal list of agent requirements, I got something even better: a friend whom I trusted to have my best interests top of mind. At no time was I made to feel awkward or ridiculous. All my questions were answered swiftly, respectfully, and honestly. Matt was not driven to push a higher-priced home on me, nor did he pressure me in any other way. I was able to take my time, consider my options, and explore alternatives. Ultimately I chose a new-construction townhouse in Beacon Hill. My 1st home. And I have Matt to thank.

He was great with me. Responsive, thoughtful, and he managed my quirks well... He also was great at referring me to other professionals (contractors, lenders, inspectors, etc.) who were really helpful as I navigated this purchase.

We have been looking for a few weeks and got beat out on a few properties we had put offers in. When Matt came in to show us this condo, we quickly wrote an offer and he was very quick to coordinate with the sellers agent and got our offer accepted the next day.

Working with Matt was fantastic - he was incredibly helpful, available and information while maintaining a low pressure ethic. I hope that every agent aspires to maintain relationships with their clients the way that Matt did with me! Thanks so much Matt!

As a real estate broker relocating to Seattle, I needed an agent that I could trust. Matt and his team went above and beyond to make our purchasing process a success.

Matt was very responsive and offered practical and constructive suggestions to enable closing on the property in a very short time.

Matt is the consummate professional and a great ally. In addition to knowing the business very well - he returns emails/texts/calls promptly - which in a tough real estate market like Seattle is incredibly important. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to my friends.

I was a frustrated seller, and had few offers that fell through, Matt kept his cool, brought us a FULL price offer:)

We used Matt recently to buy a new house in Blue Ridge, Seattle and to sell our old house in Greenlake. We had a great experience with Matt on both transactions. For the purchase in Blue Ridge, Matt helped us quickly figure out properties that matched our criteria and was very accessible for scheduling tours. Matt had great insights into property value and once we honed in on a house we loved, helped us put together a competitive offer (a bit of a challenge given the lack of recent comparables in the neighborhood). We were able to get the house for below list price, and the overall transaction was smooth sailing due to Matt's professionalism. For this sale of our old house in Greenlake, Matt put together a detailed competitive market analysis, helped coordinate a few cosmetic upgrades to optimize our return, put together a thorough marketing campaign, and handled every aspect of the listing, sale, and closing process. I'd highly recommend Matt to anyone looking to buy or sell a house in Seattle.

My wife and I worked with Matt as our buyer's agent on the purchase of a second home in Seattle. Our primary home is in a suburban area in the San Francisco Bay Area and we wanted a condo in a great Seattle neighborhood to enjoy an urban lifestyle. We are "foodies" and were really looking for a neighborhood where we could walk to great restaurants, shops and entertainment. Matt is very knowledgeable of all of the Seattle districts and his blog on urban living and mid-century modern design initially attracted my wife's attention. Matt did a wonderful job showing and educating us on the various neighborhoods in Seattle and we found a great new condo in the Ballard district. I would highly recommend Matt to any potential buyers looking for Seattle property. He handled all aspects of our transaction professionally and responsively. He was especially helpful with elements of the closing process, such as the final inspection, where he could represent us so we could avoid having to travel from out of town.
